This project started as a spawn from the Aleph2 project. Before I completed the Aleph2's, I wanted to finish a smaller-scale Aleph amplifier that could be used to drive the tweeter section of my speakers. The Aleph3 proved to be up to the task.
Since this was a learning project and not necessarily meant to be a huge accomplishment, but merely a stepping stone, appearance wasn't a prime concern. This project was more geared toward a great sounding amplifier on a budget. When all is said and done, given the parts I already had, total cost for the two monoblocks will be less than $350. I feel this is pretty good considering that $350 can't get much in terms of amplifiers, let alone a pair of monoblocks.
The amplifier is a pure class A amplifier. It produces 30 watts into an 8 ohm load and 60 watts into a 4 ohm load. Theoretically it is stable into a short, so low resistance loads are not a problem. This is particularly important with my speakers which are 4 ohm max. These will be driving JUST the quasi-ribbon tweeter, so 60 watts should be enough power for that application.
